How it works

  1. 1

Start from the base content fee

Enter the organic fee for the placement before licensing. Keep production and exclusivity out of this number.

  2. 2

Select the rights the brand asked for

Choose 90-day organic or digital usage, then add paid media and creator authorization only when they are actually in the brief.

  3. 3

Quote licensing as its own line

Use the recommended rights fee, range, and total quote so the brand sees why reuse is not included in the organic post.

Types of usage rights

Brands often mix these terms in one email. Keep them separate in the quote. Category exclusivity is a different commercial term and is not included in this calculator.

Organic reposting
The brand can share or repost the content on its own organic channels for a fixed window. It does not include paid ads or a competitor lock.
Digital usage
Broader digital reuse, such as websites, email, and paid-ready cuts, still inside a 90-day window. It is not perpetual, worldwide, all-media usage.
Paid media
The brand can put ad spend behind the content from a brand account. Duration, platform, and any spend cap belong in the quote.
Creator-authorized ads
The brand can run ads that use your handle, identity, or spark-style authorization. This is a separate right from paid media on a brand account.

Inputs explained

Base content fee
The organic or base fee for the placement before licensing. Keep production costs and exclusivity out of this number.
Usage rights
Organic placement only covers the post on your channel. 90-day organic reposting lets the brand share the content. 90-day digital usage covers broader digital reuse. Perpetual and all-media buyouts need a custom quote.
Paid media
Lets the brand amplify the content with ad spend from a brand account. A 30-day test should not cost the same as 90 days. Uncapped spend needs a custom quote.
Creator authorization
Also called whitelisting, partnership ads, or Spark Ads. It lets the brand run ads from your identity or handle. Price it separately from paid media on a brand account.
Territory
Primary market is the default and does not add a licensing fee. Global territory applies the published add-on when the brand wants rights outside that market.

Published licensing add-ons

These percentages apply to the base content fee. They are the same versioned rules used by Dealberry's sponsorship rate calculator.

Dealberry usage rights methodology

The engine reuses the versioned commercial adjustments already approved for Dealberry sponsorship pricing. Each selected right is an additive percentage of the base content fee. Production is never multiplied. The numbers are negotiation guidance, not a price guarantee.

Rights fee = sum of (base content fee × published rate) for each selected right. Total quote = base content fee + rights fee.

Money is rounded on each rights line. The visible result keeps the exact validated input that produced it. Exclusivity, perpetual rights, broadcast, out-of-home, and uncapped ad spend stay out of this fee.

Limitations

  • The calculator prices licensing as additive percentages of the base content fee. Production is not multiplied.
  • Supported windows are 90-day organic or digital usage and 30- or 90-day paid media or creator authorization.
  • Perpetual rights, broadcast, out-of-home, uncapped ad spend, and terms beyond 90 days need a custom quote.
  • Category exclusivity is a separate commercial term and is not included.
  • Public add-on ranges are directional and do not guarantee a brand's budget.

Creator usage rights calculator FAQ

How much should a creator charge for usage rights?

Charge an additive licensing fee on top of the organic content fee. Dealberry's published 90-day organic reposting add-on is 10–20%, and 90-day digital usage is 25–50%. Paid media, creator ad authorization, and global territory stack on top instead of replacing the base fee.

Is this an influencer usage rights calculator for paid ads too?

Yes. Paid media and creator authorization are separate inputs. A 30-day paid test and 90-day creator-authorized ads are different commercial terms and should show up as different line items.

Does usage rights include exclusivity?

No. Usage rights control how the brand can reuse your content. Exclusivity limits which competing brands you can work with. Price them separately.

What if the brand wants perpetual or broadcast rights?

Do not stretch the 90-day ranges. Perpetual rights, broadcast, out-of-home, uncapped ad spend, and terms beyond 90 days need a custom quote.

Should production costs be multiplied by the rights percentage?

No. Production is a fixed cost. Licensing percentages apply to the organic or base content fee only.

Does Dealberry guarantee this usage rights fee?

No. Published add-on ranges are a starting point, not a promise that a brand will pay that licensing fee. Actual fees depend on media, duration, territory, editing permission, audience demand, and payment terms.

Keep the licensing terms with the rest of the deal

Once the rights fee is set, track the conversation, proposal, deliverables, follow-ups, and payment in Dealberry instead of spreading them across DMs, spreadsheets, and inboxes.
